A Canadian Citizen or permanent resident can sponsor a spouse or a dependent child. To be eligible for Family Class Sponsorship, individuals who desire to immigrate to Canada must have a close relative willing to sponsor them and that relative must either be a Canadian Citizen or a Canadian Permanent Residents
a sponsor you may be expected to meet some income requirements. In addition if you have previously agreed to sponsor a relative seeking permanent residence in Canada for a period of time who later received social assistance, you may not be permitted to sponsor relatives in the future.
